What do you like most about your job?
I love the fact that I can make a big difference to my clients by making very small and subtle changes. Confidence makes a person beautiful and that’s wonderful to see. I like it when I see my clients leaving the consultation room smiling, with a spring in their step. They seem to literally grow a little taller. Even their posture changes and they look empowered, with their chin held high.
I also love the fact that I can be a confidante and help to guide my clients through the maze of information that’s out there. It’s satisfying to help them sort the wheat from the chaff, dispel some of the myths, and bring some calm to a field that can sometimes be a bit crazy.
Do you have a philosophy on fillers and injectables?
Yes. I believe that fillers and injectables aren’t just for celebrities. “Ageing backwards” and “defying age” is no longer the realm of rich celebrities gifted with freakishly attractive genetics. It is now achievable for anyone with the right guidance.
The evolution of cosmetic injectables over the past 20 years has been extraordinary. We’re living in a golden age, with highly adapted products and sophisticated application. We’re in a privileged position where we can prevent the effects of ageing and enhance natural beauty in all decades of life.
What else do you enjoy about working at Dr Face?
I enjoy living vicariously through all the momentous occasions in my clients’ lives – preparing for big birthdays, weddings, class reunions, new jobs, relationships or even just deciding to invest in themselves after devoting time to raising a family. I enjoy the details of the events – the dress, the venue, the proposal, the holiday itinerary. It’s a positive energy which is infectious. I’m like the fly on the wall or the paparazzi, catching a glimpse of the exciting parts of people’s lives.
Is there anything about it you don’t enjoy as much?
The thing that’s sometimes hard is when patients have limited funds for treatments – which is almost always of course. The trick is to deliver the results which have the most impact in both the short and the long term, but still keep within budget.
What’s been one of your most rewarding experiences at Dr Face so far?
I treated a patient with a facial scar that she had got from a childhood accident. When she first came to see me, she told me how she had been teased as a child and of course, it affected her confidence. At the time, she thought it was just bad luck and she would have to put up with it. The added changes of ageing had further accentuated the scar and made her even more self-conscious. Restoring volume loss not only reversed the signs of aging, but improved the appearance of the scar, so it was difficult to see at all. Seeing her blossom into a bright and confident woman in her early 60s It has been a very gratifying experience – almost like giving back her adolescent years of coming into her own.
Why did you choose to work at Dr Face?
Well, the Drs bring together a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills which really enhances the creative aspect of our work. It’s a privilege to be part of such a strong and dedicated team. And their many years of varied experience combine to give clients the best plan for their treatments in the short and long term.
What’s been the most satisfying outcome you’ve achieved for a client?
There’s a particular client I have been treating for 17 years, who looks very much more attractive now than when she was younger. We have not only reversed and prevented the signs of ageing, we have beautified her with soft subtle contouring and skin quality improvement. We achieved all this while following her brief of looking natural.
I also enjoy working with female transgender clients. Their brief is to appear more feminine, which basically means reversing the principles we normally follow when we do not wish to feminise a male patient. It feels both liberating and bonding.
What are your future plans, professionally speaking?
To continue to educate my clients and guide them through the maze of cosmetic treatments on offer today. And to help them create a holistic plan that will deliver the most beautiful outcome for their skin.
