Who is injecting your face and why does it matter?

Doctor Injecting

While it is incredibly uncommon & rare for cosmetic injectable treatments to go wrong, it is a medical procedure and it is being performed on your beautiful face. So let’s get serious and talk about what can go wrong. In the worst case scenario – irreversible blindness. This has been reported recently from a case in Sydney with an injector working with filler on the nose of a patient. Again, this is RARE but a solemn reminder that these procedures have risk.

There are also a range of less serious side effects that from range from temporary redness, tenderness, bruising, swelling at the injected site. Most of these will not last more than a few days. But, as has been highlighted, there are also serious (and rare) effects namely a risk of infection and vascular complications. Some of these more serious risks, if caught soon enough, can be prevented from being permanent.

Knowing this, don’t you want the person holding the needle to be highly qualified in what they are doing to you and who they are? You want a genuine expert working on your face right?

What should you look for when you are choosing the person to preform your cosmetic injections? We think there are two rules.

Rule 1
Research the procedure.

Rule 2
Research the practitioner options available to you.

The person you choose should be a specialist in cosmetic injectables and for your own protection, they need a solid anatomic understanding and trained in medical assessment and potential complication treatment. And they should be insured.
Natural, aesthetically appealing and appropriate results are achieved only through expert assessment and treatment. Cosmetic injectables are a safe and effective treatment for signs of early aging. Your injector should be explaining to you why they have chosen the treatment for you and why they feel that a treatment option is not appropriate for you.
